StepShot is closing requests for its current 30-day Pro trial campaign on September 1, 2026 at 23:59 UTC. A request must be received before that deadline. Each eligible email address can receive one trial licence for one device, with no payment card or StepShot account required.
The 30 days start when the licence is issued
The campaign deadline is the last time to request a key, not a shared expiry date for every participant. Each licence remains valid for 30 days from the day it is issued. The email containing the key states its individual end date, so requesters can see the usable period before activation.
The trial cannot be restarted or extended through another request from the same email address. It is also not an in-app trial button: eligible visitors can use the trial request form linked from the pricing page, while keys offered through StepShot social posts are issued by the operator.
What the Pro trial includes
During the trial, the licence enables the same Pro export rights as a paid Pro licence: full-length exports, PDF output, page layout and document branding. StepShot also exports Markdown and self-contained HTML. The trial covers one device; a paid Pro licence is a one-time purchase for two devices and includes future StepShot updates.
StepShot for macOS 14 and later captures and edits workflows locally by default. Optional AI planning uses a user-provided OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Text semantics are the default cloud input; sending up to four locally sanitized visual samples requires a separate, default-off consent.
Projects remain after the trial ends
Trial expiry does not delete or lock a project. StepShot returns to the free entitlement: capture and editing remain unlimited, while each export includes the first 10 captured steps and PDF is unavailable. A user can continue revising existing guides and later activate a paid licence without recreating the work.
Before requesting a key
Confirm that the Mac runs macOS 14 or later and that there is a real workflow available to test. A useful trial should cover the complete loop: capture a task, review and redact its screenshots, edit the written steps, then inspect an exported document in the format its readers will receive.
